Verify the address every time
Copy an onion from a market page here, never type one from memory, and on the login screen compare it against your address bar before your password. Every real market prints its onion in the anti-phishing image and header. If they differ, close the tab.
Let escrow do its job
Every market here runs multisig escrow so your payment is held until you confirm the order arrived. Never finalize early on a vendor you have not tested, since that hands over your coin and removes the dispute path.
Small balances, private coin
Deposit for the order in front of you and withdraw the rest to your own wallet. For anything you want kept private, pay in Monero, which leaves nothing on a public ledger.
